Quinn has announced that he will present an award to abortion advocates. The Church opposes this decision.
Governor Pat Quinn faced Catholic criticism for announcing plans to present an award to an "abortion rights" political action committee.

CHICAGO, IL (Catholic Online)  - On November 17, Quinn is set to present the award to the pro-choice advocacy group. Quinn is praising the group for "helping rape victims."

However, only a fraction of the women who seek abortions are rape victims. The group is dedicated to electing pro-choice candidates, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the desire to seek an abortion.

The catholic Conference of Illinois issued a statement saying that Quinn had, "gone beyond a political alignment with those supporting the legal right to kill children in their mothers' wombs to rewarding those deemed most successful in this terrible work."
