Former Bears quarterback files for bankruptcy

Bob Avellini played quarterback for the Chicago Bears from 1975 to 1984.
Bob Avellini, former Chicago Bears quarterback, filed for bankruptcy protection last month.

CHICAGO, IL (Catholic Online) - Now a self-employed property manager, Avellini played for the Bears from 1975 to 1984.

Avellini, 58, has more than $2.2 million in liabilities and more than $1.3 million of assets according to the Chapter 7 filing list.

No statements explaining the former quarterback's financial problems were made in the case, which took place in a Chicago federal court. One of his bankruptcy attorneys, John Holowach, said Avellini would not make further comments beyond what is in the public filing.
