CHICAGO, IL (Catholic Online) - A surprise inspection at the Cook County Morgue by the Inspector General, Patrick Blanchard caught one woman napping at her desk, and two other employees enjoying a Bruce Lee movie while the local deceased waited.
A follow up investigation found that these incidents were not isolated either, meaning workers at the facility had a poor reputation for doing similar things in the past. The offending workers were suspended. The local morgue has faced criticism in the past as bodies have accumulated at the facility without being processed in a timely fashion. Possibly now, inspectors know why.
